Kumba Iron Ore appointed Themba Mkhwanazi as CEO, following Norman Mbazima’s decision to step down after four years to focus on his role as deputy chairman of Anglo American South Africa. Mbazima will remain a member of Anglo American’s Group Management Committee. Mkhwanazi has been CEO of Anglo American’s Coal South Africa business since May 2014.

Klondex Mines appointed John Antwi senior vice president of strategic development and Ian McMullan as director of mining and engineering. Most recently, Antwi served as the regional director for business development for Newmont Mining in North America. McMullan comes to Klondex from Newmont Mining, where he most recently served as mine manager for three underground portal operations in Carlin, Nevada.

Excelsior Mining Corp. appointed Robert Washnock as project manager for the Gunnison copper project in Arizona. Washnock has held managerial positions with Freeport McMoRan since 2008. Most recently, he was the manager of leach optimization at the Safford Technology Center.

Western Potash Corp. appointed Dr. Matthew Wood as project director of the Milestone potash project. He is the former president of Vale Potash Canada Ltd. and senior project leader of Vale’s Kronau project near Regina in Saskatchewan. The company also appointed George Gao as senior vice president of business development. Gao is the former president of the Beijing Mining Exchange.

Excellon Resources appointed Denis Flood as vice president of technical services. Most recently, he was the principal mining engineer at Resolution Copper.

Atlantic Gold appointed Maryse Bélanger as COO. Bélanger will succeed John Morgan, who will retire. Morgan will remain as a director and has agreed to remain as an advisor. Most recently, Belanger was the CEO and managing director of Mirabela Nickel.

Nemaska Lithium hired François Godin as vice president of operations. Prior to joining Nemaska Lithium, Godin worked 28 years in progressively senior operations and process optimization roles for the Iron and Titanium division of Rio Tinto.

Lydian International Ltd. appointed Joseph Phillips as COO and Robert Carreau as vice president of sustainability. Most recently, Phillips was the chief restructuring officer for Carpathian Gold and senior vice president and chief development officer for Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp. Prior to joining Lydian, Carreau led the global execution and long-term strategy for IAMGOLD Corp.’s Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Security.

NewCastle Gold announced the departure of David Adamson, president, CEO and director. In the interim, Richard W. Warke, executive chairman, will assume the duties of CEO. R. Stuart “Tookie” Angus has been appointed a director. Angus is an independent business advisor to the mining industry and was formerly Head of the Global Mining Group for Fasken Martineau.

Corazon Gold appointed Victor Goncalves as president and CEO and a director of the board. Bradley Scharfe has been acting as the interim CEO and has been appointed by the board as chairman.

Asante Gold appointed Ned Goodman as the chairman of the board of directors. He was involved in the creation of Kinross Gold, Repadre (later IAMGOLD) and Dundee Precious Metals, and was an early backer of FNX Mining Co. Inc. (later Quadra FNX Mining). Goodman is the deputy chairman of the Canadian Securities Exchange.

Pilbara Minerals Ltd. appointed Tony Kiernan as nonexecutive chairman. Kiernan will succeed Tony Leibowitz, who has tendered his resignation as chairman and will step down.

Sierra Metals Inc. appointed Mike McAllister as vice president of corporate development.

Kombat Copper appointed Stephan Theron as president and CEO. Paul Bozoki will return to his role as CFO and Heidi Gerry will resume her role as corporate controller. Theron will also join the board of directors replacing Bozoki. Prior to joining Kombat Copper, Theron was managing director at Liberty Metals and Mining.

The Idaho Mining Association appointed Ben Davenport as its new executive director. Davenport brings more than 12 years of experience in public policy and governmental affairs and was previously the president of the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho. Davenport is replacing Jack Lyman, who recently retired after serving 27 years.

FLSmidth appointed Jeff Court as senior vice president for regional operations within the Minerals division. Most recently, he worked for Orica as a regional vice president over Europe, Turkey and the Middle East.

McLanahan Corp. hired Jeff High as global product manager of crushing and screening.

Behre Dolbear announced that Amy Jacobsen has been appointed as chairman and Chris Wyatt was
appointed to the board. Jacobsen has been a member of the board since November 2015. She has been with the company since 2006, as a vice president of global business development and managing director of Behre Dolbear Management Consulting. Wyatt has worked at Behre Dolbear since 2007.

Professor Roberto Villas-Boas of CETEM Brazil passed away. A long serving representative of Brazil on the International Mineral Processing Council, he was to be recognized for his contributions to mineral processing at the XXVIII IMPC in Quebec City in September. For a time, he was the IMPC chairman of the Sustainability Commission. He ended his term of office on the council at the time of the XXVII IMPC in Santiago, Chile.
