Veolia Water Technologies reported that its solution at the Greenbushes lithium mine water treatment plant could contribute to a doubling of output from the Talison lithium mine, reportedly the largest such mine in the world. After engineering and test work, Veolia will provide a water treatment plant solution based on ACTIFLO clarification, CeraMem ultrafiltration, high-recovery RO and two-stage EVALED thermal evaporation, the company reported. The water treatment plant is designed to treat a maximum feed flow of 150 cubic meters per hour and achieve the highest overall water recovery possible. Beyond increasing production numbers, the plant solution will enable the miner to satisfy environmental requirements to reduce lithium contained in the on-site mine water prior to discharge. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2019.
