Caterpillar reported the new dipper for the 7495 HF Electric Rope Shovel improves uptime and performance over previous dippers. With a new design, the unit is for oil sands, and offers increased uptime, leading to significant gains in production, Caterpillar reported.
The dipper features an optimized lip cutting angle for reduced heel wear. The ground engagement tools are pitched at an upward angle for better digging performance, the supplier said.
The unit is 7% lighter than the current 45.9-m3 latched dipper, and delivers more cutting force for more consistent fill factors and increased production. The lower weight puts less stress on the machine, giving it longer life and improved reliability of key components on the front end.
The dipper features a new vertical latch system that delivers improved system performance and lower part maintenance, reducing overall operating costs, Caterpillar reported. Instead of sliding, the latch’s tapered-end design lifts the insert surfaces away from each other, extending wear life and reducing service time for better uptime.
The dipper was extensively tested and proved that customers can achieve better penetration and fills per pass over previous dippers.
