Dafo spotlighted a fire protection system for electric and hybrid vehicles that activates prior to, and attempts to prevent, a battery fire. The system detects temperature changes in a lithium-ion battery early and cools it down before the thermal runaway stage, the company reported. The system was developed through the E.U.-funded research project Li-IonFire, was developed for buses, and will be available for heavy-electric vehicles.
