PHIL-minPhilippi-Hagenbuch (PHIL) announced HiVol Hard Rock Bodies optimized for underground mining were delivered to a limestone operation in Missouri. The customizable design maximizes each truck’s hauling capacity while allowing for safer, more efficient loading, the supplier said.

Each body delivered offers a volumetric capacity of 18.3 m3, an increase over the 15-m3 capacity of the OEM body. One side of the body is taller than the other to accommodate loading. The taller side works as a “backboard” to catch material as it is loaded and reduce spillage, PHIL said.

The floor is elongated on the taller side to ensure better weight distribution. Widening the body lowers the center of gravity, making the truck more stable and increasing operator safety, the supplier said. A customized cylinder mount with shortened cylinders means the body will not hit the ceiling when dumping.

Each body is made with high-strength, abrasion-resistant Hardox 450 steel, and comes with a custom-engineered Autogate tailgate to maximize capacity and prevent spillage from the back of the truck. The tailgate matches the asymmetrical shape of the body.
