Western Australia-based mining services company Ausdrill subsidiary, African Mining Services Mali SARL (AMS) has been awarded a sizable contract for Resolute’s flagship Syama gold mining operation in Mali, West Africa.

                Resolute is a gold producer with three operating gold mines in Australia and Africa. It is currently undertaking a major expansion of at Syama, which is located in the south of Mali, West Africa, approximately 30 km from the Côte d’Ivoire border and 300 km southeast of the capital, Bamako.

                The five-year contract, valued at US$540 million, became effective in early September, according to the company.

                AMS, which will perform all contract mining services at the project, said it has reached an agreement with the incumbent contractor to purchase the equipment currently being used at the operation.            

                Further equipment will be obtained by AMS as needed in accordance with project expansion requirements.

                Ausdrill Managing Director Ron Sayers said the contract was the single largest ever awarded to the Ausdrill group.
