SKF reported that its new 241-series Explorer spherical roller bearings, sealed large bearings for high-pressure grinder rollers, reduce bearing grease consumption by up to 99%. Available in bore-diameter sizes up to 1,250 mm, the bearings increase the mean time between failures for optimal machine availability and reliability, SKF said.

The bearings are designed for a higher load-carrying capacity. Bearings with a bore diameter below 1,000 mm have an HNBR seal that is retained by a snap ring. Larger bearings use a G-ECOPUR seal that is bolted to the bearing’s outer ring.

The bearings offer double the lifetime of competitive open bearings. They can be remanufactured twice, lowering the total cost of ownership.

The bearings can be purchased separately or as part of an SKF three-barrier solution.
