Westwater Resources Inc., an energy materials development company, has taken delivery of the first shipment of natural flake graphite concentrate. Totaling 20 metric tons (mt), the material will be used to develop pilot-scale processes to produce several tons of battery-grade advanced graphite products.

“With this delivery, we can now go about the business of executing our pilot plant studies and putting larger samples of battery graphite in the hands of battery manufacturers,” President and CEO of Westwater Resources Chris Jones said.

Westwater Resources’ battery-materials projects include the Coosa graphite project and the associated Coosa graphite mine located in east-central Alabama, USA. In addition, the company maintains lithium mineral properties in two prospective lithium brine basins in Nevada and Utah. The company also has uranium projects located in Texas and New Mexico.
