Vehicle Management Corp. (VMC) recently released enTIRE PressureNet, the company’s new entry in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) market.
TMPS systems involve installing tire sensors on each tire in a fleet, and alerts are triggered when tire pressure exceeds the acceptable range. Some TPMS also send this data to a server.
enTIRE PressureNet is a software application that receives data from all tire pressure sensors installed in a fleet and stores this information centrally on a server. Reports and alerts are generated when tire pressure/temperature falls below or rises above a preset safety threshold. The information can be accessed and analyzed via the internet.
According to VMC, while there are several TPMS providers that offer a similar product, they can only interface with their own tire sensors. However, the company claims that enTIRE PressureNet is the only application of its kind that can interface with multiple TPMS sensor types. In addition, the system can be augmented with the company’s optional tire and rim management system to further increase its potential value to the customer.
Mark Fernie, co-founder and managing director of enTIRE, highlighted the features and benefits of the system, which include:
• Multiple sensor types: The customer is not restricted to using one type of sensor across their fleet, and can choose the best sensor for each fleet type.
• Easy installation: There is minimal hardware installation inside the vehicle cabin.
• Email and SMS alerts: Real-time SMS alerts when out-of-range data is detected, allowing personnel to take immediate corrective action.
• Email summary: Regular reporting, containing fleet status and a summary of issues.
• GPS tracking.
• Connects to the optional enTIRE Wheels Tire and Rim Management System.
Economic and operational benefits of using a system of this type, according to Fernie, include:
• Fuel savings: Operating a vehicle at incorrect tire pressure increases its fuel consumption by an average of 3.5%.
• Extended tire life, averaging about 4%.
• Less downtime.
• Safety: Prevents slow leaks, flat tires and/or tire blowouts from causing accidents.
• Time savings: Reduce man-hours allocated to performing manual pressure checks.
