Chile will host the XXVII International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) 2014 in Santiago between October 20 and 24; the event, uniting more than 1,000 professionals and academics from the mining industry, represents 50 countries.
The IMPC is recognized among the world’s most prominent gatherings for scientific and technical knowledge in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, initiated in 1952 in the U.K. and hosted worldwide since.
More than 500 articles were received for this version of the congress which will be published in the Congress Proceedings; a Sustainability Symposium, organized by the Sustainability Commission of the IMPC Council, meanwhile, will also take place.
The technical sessions will cover comminution; flotation; physical separation processes; water and tailings management; energy efficiency; control and process optimization; process geometallurgy and mineralogy; hydrometallurgy; concentrator plant operation and project development; urban mining; human capital; sustainability and mineral economics.
The congress is organized by Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Concepción, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Chilean Council of Engineers, and Gecamin- the leader company in developing technical conferences for the mining industry.
