Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM), a top engineering and project firm, will deliver site evaluation and qualification suppliers in China for Codelco, the largest global copper producer. SKM will evaluate steel piping and structure suppliers and for Codelco’s mines and mills.
SKM General Manager for Mining and Metals Phil Lory said the development will allow SKM to continue increasing its Asian footprint. “With some 70 staff employed to undertake procurement services, inspection and fabrication management in China, SKM continues to expand, with projects in countries including South Korea and Thailand.”
Codelco’s new role enhances the services with which SKM delivers Codelco’s El Teniente New Mine Level and Andina Expansion projects in Chile, according to company officials, along with other SKM co-deliverables for more than 40 years.
