Dundee Precious Metals has been recognized for technological innovation with the 2013 Ingenious Award at its Chelopech mine in Bulgaria. Presented by Canada’s Information Technology Association, the award acknowledged Dundee for doubling production without adding new mobile mining equipment, simultaneously reducing unit costs 44%.

The Ingenious Awards program celebrates enterprises demonstrating measurable evidence of productivity improvement, efficiency gains, revenue growth, overall business transformation or other organizational outcomes through the use of technology.

Dassault Systèmes’ GEOVIA InSite mine production management and GEOVIA GEMS geology and mine planning software applications form key components of the technological backbone at the Chelopech mine. By integrating with other vendors’ systems, equipment, and an underground Wi-Fi network, miners can visualize operations in real time.

Realized benefits include production doubled and unit costs reduced by 44% and problems were identified without delay. Real-time equipment health monitoring and resources were also utilized to optimize shift results.
