Norsk Hydro officials are permanently closing their Kurri Kurri aluminium plant in Australia. Care and maintenance has been ongoing since production ceased in 2012 based on market demands; remediation and redevelopment is pending.

Future plans for the site, according to Norsk officials, will encompass close consultation with community members and stakeholders. “We are committed to understanding their views and keeping them informed,” said Hilde Merete Aasheim, executive vice president of Hydro’s Primary Metal business area.
