Glencore announced on Thursday, January 5 it is mulling over a decision to possibly invest in a further stake in the Mutanda mine in the Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“Glencore is currently considering its strategic options in connection with Mutanda and a further announcement will be made in due course, if appropriate,” the company said in a statement.

The Mutanda mine is jointly owned by Glencore, 69%, and the Fleurette Group, 31%. It is managed by Glencore who also has a 100% off-take contract for all copper and cobalt production. The mine is a high-grade copper and cobalt producer.
