Sandvik will supply three TH550B trucks, a DD422iE drill rig, and a LH518B loader to Hindustan Zinc’s Sindesar Khurd mine. Sandvik will also provide batteries, charging systems and a support team.

The machines feature Sandvik’s charging-while-driving technology. The loader and trucks are equipped with AutoSwap, a battery self-swapping system that can change out a battery in a few minutes.

The TH550B and LH518B are based on technology developed by Artisan Vehicle Systems, which Sandvik acquired in 2019 and further developed. Both come equipped for remote monitoring and adoption of automation solutions.

The equipment will comprise the “first battery equipment fleet in India,” and will help the mine achieve its carbon neutrality ambitions, the supplier said. “This is a testament to both the pioneering ambitions of Hindustan Zinc and the technological maturity of Sandvik BEV products,” said Henrik Ager, mining business area president.
