Normet announced Charmec Revo, featuring a remote-controlled robotic arm for putting emulsion and initiation systems in boreholes. With automation capabilities, the unit offers optimal safety and efficiency, Normet said.

Drilled borehole maps from the drill rigs can be uploaded to the arm so it can locate the borehole positions on the face.. A machine vision system guides the charging hose automatically to the drilled boreholes. If the map is not available, the machine vision helps the operator locate the boreholes.

Once the borehole is found, the charging hose delivery system installs the primer and emulsion.

The unit uses collision-free path planning to determine the safest route for the arm, Normet said. If anything appears in the operating area, the arm stops its movement.

The Charmec Revo can be adapted to use any initiating system and all bulk emulsion systems. The primers can be handled manually or with magazines
provided by explosives suppliers.

The unit has a load capacity of 6 metric tons (mt), meaning up to 4 mt can be mounted safely onto the rear platform away from the hot surfaces. A large bulk tank capacity helps increase uptime and productivity, Normet said.

The carrier is available with either the latest diesel engine emission rating or SmartDrive battery-electric architecture with zero local emissions. The unit is developed headings measuring 4 x 4 m up to 6 x 6 m.
