IGO Limited confirmed that mining and processing operations have resumed at the Nova Operation following a fire that damaged the 10MW power station owned and operated by the company’s power partner Zenith Energy Pty Ltd (Zenith).

Following an incident December 3, 2022, Zenith and IGO have worked quickly to identify and deploy 14.9 MW of new generation capacity to site. This rapid response has minimized disruption to the Nova Operation, and enabled mining activity to recommence on December 11, 2022, and processing operations to resume on December 21, 2022.

The suspension of operations has resulted in lower-than-expected production for the December quarter, and, as a result, IGO expects full-year production at Nova to be at or just below the lower end of the guided range. The company also expects to provide a further update to Nova’s production and cash cost guidance as part of the December 2022 Quarterly Report due for release on 31 January 2022.

“I am immensely proud of how our people, with the strong support and commitment of our partner Zenith, have responded to enable a swift and safe recovery from this incident,” IGO’s Acting CEO, Matt Dusci said. “Their collaboration and professionalism have minimised disruption to Nova and have allowed us to resume operations in a very short time frame.”

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
