Metso Outotec introduced the next generation of its agitated OKTOP CIL Reactor for gold cyanide leaching and recovery. Suitable for carbon-in-leach (CIL) and carbon-in-pulp process applications, it offers an up to 50% reduction in activated carbon breakage and energy consumption over industry benchmarks, the supplier said.

The comprehensive solution features OKTOP FlowBottom technology that reduces agitation intensity for the homogeneous suspension of solids with reduced mixing power and decreased carbon attrition and related gold losses, the supplier said. The reactor comes with OKTOP SandSense, to control and optimize agitator rotation speed to reduce wear, and the CarbonSense in-situ measurement system, to help minimize gold solution losses.

The OKTOP Reactors were originally released in 2006. More than 1,000 units have been sold.
