The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), its divisions and affiliates are offering multiple scholarships to SME student members who are seeking a career in the mining, mineral and tunneling industries. SME will be accepting applications for the 2020 scholarship season September 1 through October 15.
Last year, more than $400,000 in scholarships were awarded by SME Divisions, the SME Foundation, WAAIME and the Underground Construction Association (UCA). Additionally, several memorial scholarships have been created to honor Society leaders and their contributions to the industry.
“A key mission of SME is to facilitate the study of mining and mineral-related courses at institutions of higher learning by providing scholarships to highly qualified students,” SME Executive Director David L. Kanagy said. “We are proud to be able to provide these educational opportunities to the future leaders of the global mining and underground construction communities.”
