John G. Roscoe of Lookout Mountain, Colorado, passed away September 1, 2018. Roscoe was a mining engineer, born March 16, 1922, in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. Following high school, he began prospecting with his father in the Nevada City area of California. After serving in the Army during World War II, he used the G.I. Bill to graduate as a mining engineer from Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada. He started his mining engineering career at the legendary Bunker Hill mine in Kellogg, Idaho. He eventually headquartered in Grand Junction, followed by Tucson, Arizona, before moving back to Colorado in the 1970s. He was a life member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers. He became a founding member of the Lookout Mountain Water District, serving as president of the board of directors. He was instrumental in providing engineering and management services for the development of the Upper Beaver Brook reservoir and water treatment facilities. Renamed the John Roscoe Reservoir and Dam, the development was dedicated in his honor July 2017.
