Liebherr announced bearing clearance monitoring (BCM), a digital condition monitoring system for slewing bearings. The system can be used to measure bearing wear in axial and radial directions, as well as tilting clearance. It reduces downtime, lowers costs in maintenance, and offers higher personal protection, Liebherr reported.
With sensors permanently installed on bearings, the system eliminates the need for mounted gauges or measuring devices. A sensor connection box supplies power to, and receives data from, the sensors. A gateway stores the data. A direct connection via Bluetooth makes the measurement process possible from a safe distance and without a network connection.
