Leading services company Sedgman Ltd. has been appointed preferred contractor in an agreement with Guyana Goldfields for the engineering, procurement and construction of a new processing and power plant at Guyana Goldfield’s flagship Aurora project in Guyana.

The proposed contract will be delivered by the GSJV joint venture Sedgman has established with Peruvian engineering and construction contractor Graña y Montero Group. The contract, valued at $137 million, includes a process plant, power station and management of scope of works; Guyana is a former Dutch Colony on South America’s Caribbean coast.

Sedgman CEO Nick Jukes called the deal “further evidence of success of strategic diversification by commodity and geography,” for his company. The project, he added, is the firm’s second large gold processing plant tendered during 2013 “and an important milestone in the development of our Americas region.”
