Officials at Perseus Mining Ltd. have announced that ore processing operations resumed at their Edikan Gold Mine in Ghana on April 16, seven days after a fire erupted in the plant’s cyclone nest during routine maintenance.

Managing Director Jeff Quartermaine hailed investigation and ensuing repair efforts. “That we were able to resume operations within seven days is a credit to all,” he said. “We have learned a lot and the cost of repairs has been modest.”

First gold was produced at the Ashanti Gold Belt project in Q3 2011; commercial production followed in Q1 2012.
