Orbite Aluminae appointed RHI Canada Inc. as its contractor for the installation of the refractory system for the decomposer and calcination units at its HPA production facility in Cap-Chat, Quebec. The installation will begin at the end of March and will take approximatively eight weeks.

“RHI is the undisputed leader in the refractory systems market,” said Denis Arguin, Orbite vice president engineering and operations. “Based on the breadth and depth of their experience and skill set, we are confident RHI is the right partner for us to help complete our calcination system, a key step toward completion of our plant.”

RHI Canada is a subsidiary of RHI AG, which supplies high-grade refractory products, systems and services. Orbite Aluminae plans to produce alumina and other high-value products, such as rare earth and rare metal oxides, from aluminous clays, kaolin, red mud (bauxite tailings), etc. It is currently in the process of finalizing its first commercial high-purity alumina (HPA) production plant for a proposed smelter-grade alumina (SGA) production plant, which would use clay mined from its Grande-Vallee deposit.
