The Spokane-based Northwest Mining Association (NMWA) has renamed itself the American Exploration & Mining Association (AEMA). According to President Rich DeLong of Enviroscientists, the decision was based on the organization’s fast-expanding footprint. “The membership has evolved far beyond the traditional northwest,” he noted; 65% of membership now lies outside the northwest, encompassing 42 states, seven Canadian provinces and 10 foreign countries.

The AEMA is a 119-year-old, 2,400-member non-profit, non-partisan trade association. The association supports and advances the mineral resource and related industries, while representing and informing members on technical, legislative and regulatory issues. The new website of the American Exploration and Mining Association is: www.miningamerica.org.
