MWH Global, the strategic consulting, technical engineering and construction services firm leading the wet infrastructure sector, has finalized its acquisition of Outback Ecology, an Australian environmental consultancy associated with the natural resources and mining industry for more than 20 years.

MWH first announced its plans to acquire Outback in Q1 2013, citing the opportunity to combine MWH’s current offerings for the resources and energy industries with Outback Ecology’s specialized services.

More than 70 of Outback Ecology’s employees, who are scientists and specialists, have remained with the company, including Harley Lacy, Outback Ecology chairman and founder. The integration of the two businesses is currently under way. While maintaining its identity initially, Outback will gradually transition its name to MWH.

Outback Ecology employs 75 specialists and scientists based in offices across Australia with specialized offerings, including water management, as well as natural resources engineering and mine remediation.
