Metso is supplying a primary crusher and grinding equipment to B2Gold Namibia for its new Greenfield Otjikoto gold mine project in Namibia, company officials announced. Upon completion by Q4 2014, the open pit mine—with reserves of 29.4 million metric tons (mt) at an average grade of 1.42 grams per mt—will produce 141,000 oz gold annually in its first five years of operation; the order’s total value will exceed $10.4 million as the mine uses leaching and carbon-in-pulp to extract the gold.

The Otjikoto gold project lies 300 km north of the capital city of Windhoek.

Metso’s delivery includes a gyratory crusher for processing gold ore, and a grinding mill and a ball mill for secondary grinding; the crusher, with a nominal capacity between 2,010 and 2,780 mt per hour, will be delivered in Q1 2014; the grinding mills will arrive in Q2 2014.
