Jacobs Engineering Group has announced receipt of an oil sands and plant services contract award by Suncor Energy Services Inc. at its Fort McMurray base plant 270 miles northeast of Edmonton, Alberta.
Company officials cited Jacobs’ safety record at the plant while participating in seven turnarounds since 2010. The new contract ends in 2016; an amount was not disclosed.
Jacobs will provide management and services to support plant maintenance, including mechanical, rotating and operating equipment. Maintenance provisions in transportation, insulation, painting and structural work will also be within the contract.
Jacobs Group Vice President Greg Rumford expressed enthusiasm based on past collaboration. “We have provided services to Suncor at their facilities across Canada for years,” he said, “and are delighted to further the relationship.”
