FLSmidth has won a $43 million contract from top Mongolian miner Mongolyn Alt (MAK) Group for engineering, procurement and site construction for its first copper concentrator. This will allow the greenfield Tsagaan Suvarga copper-molybdenum project in southeast Mongolia a 40,000-ton-per-day (t/d) capacity.

Under a separate, previously awarded contract announced in 2011, FLSmidth now supplies all project primary process technology to the operation. The order for the asset, near Oyu Tolgoi in the south Gobi desert’s proven porphyry copper belt, will significantly boost FLSmidth’s guidance through Q2 2017, according to company officials.

MAK is Mongolia’s No. 3 company overall with diverse operational coal and gold mining development in one of Asia-Pacific’s most generously mineralized places.
