A new international EuroMining 2013 trade fair event hopes to bring mining industry professionals from all over the world to Tampere next year. A first for the region, the event organizers aim to create a dialogue between miners and equipment manufacturers, discussing future solutions.

The EuroMining trade fair will be held September 11-12, 2013, at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre in Finland. Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd. is organizing the fair in cooperation with the Finnish Association of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and the ‘Green Mining’ program of Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.

“In Finland, the activity and importance of the mining industry is in high growth, which is why a new meeting point for the industry’s operators is also welcome. The aim is to make EuroMining a high-quality and popular trade fair event, where operators of the field have varied opportunities to strengthen networking in the mining field and discuss the prospects and challenges of the industry,” said Harri Natunen, chairman of the board of the Finnish Association of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers.

According to Vesa-Jussi Penttilä, a member of the Finnish Association of Extractive Resources Industry’s board and CEO from Belvedere Mining Ltd., there is a demand for a new, well-organized fair trade event in the high-growth industry of mining. Penttilä said that in addition to its location and functional transport connections, Tampere has great premises and accommodation possibilities. There are also plenty of mines and local equipment suppliers in Pirkanmaa.

“Finland has been lacking a truly international trade fair for the mining industry,” said Penttilä. “Domestic equipment and service providers have actively participated in the events of the field also in the past, but foreign operators have not found their way here. It is crucial to attract companies and professionals of the field to our national events, especially from the great mining countries.”

The most central goals of the operators in the mining industry are enhancing eco-friendliness and promoting sustainable development. The EuroMining trade fair provides a great opportunity for promoting Green Mining thinking and attracting new businesses to the high-growth industry of mining.
