Doray Minerals officials have announced completion of the first gold pour at their high-grade Andy Well gold project in Western Australia. The event marked Doray’s transition from explorer and developer to the country’s newest high-grade producer.
The first pour consisted of a 144-oz doré bar produced from the gravity circuit at the site in the northern Murchison region. Managing Director Allan Kelly noted that the event followed steady exploration, development and construction since the initial discovery of the high-grade Wilber Lode deposit in Q1 2010.
“We are excited to be entering this phase,” said Kelly. “Our work suggests Andy Well will fall within the lowest quartile of Australian gold projects in cash operating costs.” Surface exploration at Andy Well has also re-started, seeking extensions to the high-grade Judy Lode, and further high-grade quartz lodes.
In Q1 2013, Doray announced a maiden high-grade JORC-compliant gold resource for the Judy Lode, a second high-grade gold deposit within the project, increasing the overall Andy Well inventory by 30%. Overall resources total 1.224 million indicated and inferred metric tons(mt) at 11.3 grams/mt for 444,000 oz and reserves totaling 733,000 probable mt at 10.6 grams/mt for 250,000 oz.
