Cerrejón reported that one of its trains was attacked December 18 near the 15-km mark between La Mina and Puerto Bolívar, which caused the train’s partial derailment and temporary delay on the operation, all activities have since resumed to full capacity. No one was injured in the attack. Through a timely response and diligence on behalf of the repair crew, service was restored without interrupting coal hauling operations. This was the fourth attack on Cerrejón’s infrastructure this year, and the company hopes that situations such as this will not continue for the social, economic and environmental impact they represent.
