The deepest intersection drilled to date at Brigus Gold’s Black Fox mine 75 km east of Timmins, Ontario, Canada, has intersected 40.71 g/mt gold over 26.75 m, including 103.20 g/mt gold over 8.35 m. The test hole was drilled from underground and intersected Black Fox mineralization at approximately 700 m vertical from surface, extending the mine’s west zone by an additional 300 m at depth. The orebody remains open for expansion laterally and at depth.
Brigus has been conducting a limited drilling program to test the down-dip extension of the Black Fox orebody. Orebodies in the region, along the Destor Porcupine fault, often extend to depths of more than 1,000 m.
Brigus has also reported additional high-grade drilling results from ongoing drilling at the 147 and Contact zones 4 km southeast of the Black Fox mine. Three drill rigs are continuing to test these zones, which provide Brigus with near-term production growth opportunities because of their proximity to the Black Fox mine infrastructure.
