Bendigo Mining has discovered two new zones of mineralization, the Read zone and the Newton zone, at its Henty gold mine on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia.

The Read zone is located west of the Henty mine’s Darwin South orebody, adjacent to the Henty Fault, and exhibits similar grade, thickness and alteration characteristics to other previously mined orebodies at Henty at the same early stage of exploration. A priority diamond drilling step-out program is testing the size potential and continuity of the zone.

The Newton zone is located close to mine development between Henty’s Tyndall and Mt. Julia zones. The zone is currently defined over a strike length of 200 m and remains open to the south and at depth. The zone is located approximately 100 m from existing development and has potential for incremental near-term production at low development cost.

Bendigo is planning to spend A$8 million on exploration at Henty during its 2011 fiscal year. Currently, four drill rigs are in operation, two on surface and two underground.
