SGS acquired Australia’s Hart Aviation. The Melbourne-based Hart is a global leader in aviation safety, conducting approximately 700 auditing and advisory projects annually in more than 60 countries.

Founded in 1995 and privately owned, Hart has 38 full-time employees and consultants providing specialist aviation audit and advisory services. Hart clients include companies engaged in various industries including mining, oil, gas and energy, along with aircraft owners and operators. Hart reported 2012 revenues exceeding $6.5 million.

SGS CEO Chris Kirk said the move will create substantial added value for both businesses. “Our global network will provide Hart new opportunities to promote and expand services,” he said, as SGS customers “will be very interested in the unique services provided by Hart to minimize risks to employees and cargo.”

SGS provides services to the global mining sector including geochemical analysis, resource calculation, mineralogy, metallurgy, advanced systems and water treatment.  SGS is also a top inspection, verification, testing and certification company with about 75,000 employees, and more than 1,500 offices and laboratories.
