Alcoa Fastening Systems is unveiling what it describes as “the next generation in lock-bolting” during the AIMEX exposition to be held in Sydney, Australia, September 6-9. The Huck Bobtail fastening system has no pintail, offers fast installation and lighter tooling and is totally vibration resistant, according to Glen Woodrow, Alcoa Fastening Systems’ manager of mining, rail, oil and gas. “The outcome is the highest level of performance and reliability. We have complemented this system with a simple removal device for disassembling the fastener when mining equipment maintenance is required,” he said. The Huck Bobtail fastener is available in class 8.8 and 10.9 metric M12 through to M20 and Imperial grade 5 and 8 0.5–1 in. diameter.
