Siemens has equipped its new 19-in. Simatic IPC547D industrial rack PC with high-performance Intel Core-i processors, up to the four-core processor Core i7 with integral graphic functions. For the same price basis, the new computer offers twice as much computing performance and three to five times the graphics performance.

According to Siemens, it is ideally suited to handling large volumes of data for process visualization, data acquisition and data processing. The rack PC is available with up to 32 gigabytes of DDR3 memory. A redundant hot-swap power supply, RAID 1/RAID 5 hard disk configurations in a hot-swap frame and a solid-state drive offer a high degree of system availability and data security. The PC offers a high level of dust protection by fan-controlled overpressure ventilation. Special hard-disk supports, card retainers and power plug interlocks ensure protection against vibration and shock. The new PC offers flexible expansion possibilities via a PCIe x8 (1 lane) slot, two PCIe x16 (2.0 with 16 and 4 lanes) and four PCI slots for long expansion cards. One DVI and Display Port interface as well as an optional PCI-Express graphics card enable use of up to four monitors.
