FLSmidth launched PulpMax Composite Mill Liners, pitched as high-performance SAG and ball mill liners. Customizable to fit the specifications of any SAG or ball mill, the liners are constructed with a rubber-ceramic matrix, and reinforced with carefully selected high-hardness steel inserts, the company reported.
The liners are described as being 50% lighter, making installation faster and safer, and allowing the plant to increase its ball charge level without increasing the total weight of the mill. The lighter weight means fewer bolts are required to hold the liners in place, and each liner can be larger so the mill can be lined with fewer of them, FLSmidth reported. With fewer parts, less is required to perform a reline, limiting scheduled downtime. The liners can be removed without torching.
