Metso launched the VPX filter for tailings dewatering and introduced its related comprehensive tailings management concept.
Leadership at the company said the latter improves water, chemicals and ore conservation while extracting the remaining minerals. “It allows transforming legacy practices in tailings management into a new, positive value-creation model,” Victor Tapia, president, mining equipment, Metso, said. The concept seeks to filter and dry tailings, which can then be stacked. Results reportedly include both capex and opex savings.
