Mining Tier 4 Final Engines to Be Certified
Cummins unveiled ultra-clean mining engines designed to meet European Union (EU) Stage V emissions regulations. The engines will be certified to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)/Air Resources Board (ARB) Tier 4 Final standards. The integration of Cummins’ latest aftertreatment system, the Single Module, with leading combustion and air-handling technology, allows the 2019 F3.8, B4.5, B6.7 and L9 engines to be exhaust gas recirculation-free. The Single Module system combines a diesel particulate filter, selective catalytic reduction and urea-dosing technologies in one unit, providing up to a 50% reduction in envelope size and a 30% reduction in weight compared with earlier products.

Open-gear Lube for Mining Machines
Lubricant manufacturer Bel-Ray released its latest mining product, Molylube Open Gear and Rope Lubricant. According to the company, Molylube Open Gear and Rope Lubricant has been specifically formulated for open gears, girth gears, and rack and pinions. The product is a highly tenacious lubricant that ensures adherence to the gear teeth, creating excellent resistance to throw-off and slinging. A unique formulation provides lubrication under extreme pressure conditions. In addition, the new aerosol lubricant provides the anti-wear, water resistance, and rust and corrosion protection associated with demanding mining and heavy-industry equipment applications.

Continuously Monitor OTR Tire Pressure
The Doran 360OTR tire pressure monitoring system continuously monitors air pressure in OTR tires with valve stem-mounted tire pressure sensors. These large bore tire pressure sensors transmit RF signals to a digital monitor/display located in the cab. Wheel positions are programmed into the display with a customizable baseline pressure setting for each tire. The LCD in-cab display features a “Green Means Good” LED indicator light and an interactive screen to display tire status and real-time pressures in the tires. The in-cab monitor/display can operate as a stand-alone system for the equipment operator or it can be integrated with telematics devices to provide off-vehicle communication of tire pressure and temperature data. With WirelessOptix, KNS can monitor core network KPIs such as latency, throughput and coverage. KNS can analyze the network, make recommendations for changes, then review the results — all without a trip to the site.
New Axle Offers Top GAWR
Meritor Inc. announced its new P600 Series Tridem Heavy-Haul Planetary Axle for heavy-duty mining applications. Built to operate in extreme conditions, the P600 Tridem is compatible with industry-leading suspension options and offers a best-in-class gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of 126,000 lb and gross combination weight of 560,000 lb, the company reported. Meritor’s new proportioning inter-axle differential delivers even torque split between the three axles for improved traction, maximum load capacity and increased longevity of the drivetrain. The P600 Tridem’s wide ratio coverage and standard anti-lock brakes deliver optimum safety and performance in the most extreme conditions, the company reported. The release is part of the company’s M2019 growth initiative. Full production began in June.

Skkynet Cloud Systems subsidiary Cogent Real-Time Systems released Cogent DataHub, Version 8, which supports OPC UA and streaming video. The cloud-based software package can connect and integrate data for virtually any industrial system, ranging from legacy equipment to state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) systems, Skkynet reported.
The Key enhancements of Version 8 include support for OPC UA, support for networking of OPC data through proxy servers, and secure access to USB camera images. Capable of handling more than 50,000 data changes per second, the DataHub is also seamlessly integrated with Skkynet’s SkkyHub and ETK for secure, end-to-end Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 connectivity.
Bearing Isolator Stops Ingress
Inpro/Seal released the VB45-S Bearing Isolator, which protects against contamination ingress and lubrication loss. It utilizes Inpro/Seal’s patented XX Interface coupled with an enlarged contamination chamber to achieve an IP66 rating, the standard for premium ingress protection against both harmful dust particulates and powerful water jets from all directions, the company reported. The VB45-S utilizes an enlarged D-Groove to capture oil and return it back to the bearing housing or a grease band to block grease from traveling down the shaft.
The VB45-S employs a compact design, at 0.625 in. (15.88 millimeters) overall (axial) length, the company reported. That length allows for easy installation, often without the need for equipment modifications
Chains Resist Corrosion
Tsubaki Power Transmission launched Neptune corrosion-resistant roller chains. The chains deliver exceptional corrosion resistance in applications exposed to water, saltwater, chemicals and high-humidity conditions, the company reported.
The chains are offered in a variety of options including single and multi-strand drive, single and double pitch, attachment, British Standard and customized chain.
