Minnovare launched the Environmental Impact Calculator, which allows mining companies to compute CO2 emissions. The calculator shows how those emissions are reduced through improved drilling accuracy, the supplier said.
Minnovare also said an environmental services company in Perth, Australia, hailed the calculator as very accurate. The consultancy also said the supplier’s Production Optimizer is a “small investment that can deliver a ten-fold return through increased production” while reducing emissions.
“Not having to haul or process waste material is a smart way to do this, and it is delivering huge results not only from an emissions perspective but also increasing production,” the consultancy said. “If we start to look at opportunities that will both increase production and have the benefit of reducing emissions, this will be a no-brainer for underground mining companies.”
Using Minnovare technology could save Western Australian goldfields producers between 1,000 and 8,000 mt of CO2 per year, the consultancy said.
