Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) launched the Collision Mitigation System for Volvo Wheel Loaders, with automatic braking to help reduce collisions. Functioning only when the wheel loader is in reverse and driving between 3 and 15 km/h, automatic braking applies the service brakes for up to 3 seconds when an obstacle is detected.

“With wheel loaders spending an average of 40% to 50% of their time being driven in reverse, the Collision Mitigation System is a valuable solution for operators and site managers,” Volvo CE said.

The system deactivates automatic braking when the machine reverses down the last slope the machine climbed. It can also be temporarily deactivated for specific site conditions.

Collision Mitigation System is available on the L110H/L120H equipped with OptiShift, L150H, L180H, L220H, L260H and L200H High Lift wheel loaders. It is available globally.
