Maptek has re-launched the open-pit schedule software that it acquired from Orelogy in 2014 as Maptek Evolution, offering strategic, tactical planning, and optimization tools for preparing development plans and medium- to long-term mine schedules.
The software runs on a cloud-based server using genetic algorithms, which are suited to multi-objective problems such as scheduling, according to Maptek, which noted that Evolution’s “tactical” approach generates a production schedule while also optimizing the haulage fleet and the shape of waste landforms. This results in better allocation of haul routes with calculated cycle times, productivity and fuel burns. Scheduling across planning horizons helps operations hit blending targets and meet customer specifications.
