KSB announced the addition of the MDX-850 to the GIW Mill Duty Extra Heavy (MDX) slurry pump line, which is designed for optimal wear performance in hard rock mining applications. The MDX-850 offers higher production with a lower cost of ownership over previous models, KSB said.

The unit features an 850-mm discharge, and a 2.6-m impeller. Compared to the smaller MDX-750, the unit is wider for an improved diverter design and for increased thickness in areas of the impeller to improve operation and wear life. Thickened impeller vanes, cast in Gasite 28G and Endurasite, improve wear life, so the lifecycles of wet-end parts match scheduled downtime, the company said.

The MDX-850 features an improved interface between the suction liner and the suction plate. As with all MDX pumps, it has an adjustable suction liner. It is compatible with the Remotely Adjusted Mechanical Suction Liner, which offers faster and more accurate nose gap adjustments, KSB said.

The unit was designed for optimal efficiency, the company said. “The MDX continues to be the top choice in mill circuit pumps and the 850 promises to shatter the barriers preventing customers from achieving maximum efficiency.”
