Volvo Penta announced production of the Stage V/Tier 4F-certified D16 off-road engine. The 585-kW engine offers industry-leading fuel efficiency, low- to high-end torque, and high-altitude performance, the company reported.

The high power and high torque offered can contribute to increased productivity. Other benefits include a fuel consumption reduction of up to 10% over predecessor models. The six-cylinder design offers smooth operation with low noise levels, the company reported. It is simple to maintain, and has an extended oil service interval of up to 1,000 hours.

Volvo Penta reported the D16 is based on proven dual-turbo and other technologies that have undergone millions of hours of testing and real-world use.
