Sika signed an agreement to acquire MBCC Group, the former BASF Construction Chemicals, for roughly $6 billion. MBCC Group is a global supplier of construction chemicals. The acquisition will broaden Sika’s product and solution offerings in four of five core technologies and seven of eight target markets, and will further strengthen its geographic footprint, the company reported.

The development will create the largest shotcrete player, by far, in the mining market. Sika has a wide portfolio that includes solutions for ground consolidation, paste backfilling, asset maintenance and repair. Sika also has a presence in most large-scale mining operations globally, in particular, most large block-cave operations.
