Liebherr announced an investment of $45 million in expanding its Newport News, Virginia, facility. The expansion will include the construction of three new buildings on 28 acres adjacent to the company’s current manufacturing facility. Once completed, the new facilities will total more than 251,000 ft2. The expansion will offer space for Liebherr USA Co.’s new headquarters and administrative building, a production and workshop facility, and a warehouse and distribution building. Construction will run from July 2018 through the summer of 2020. The Liebherr Group has been headquartered in Newport News since it opened in 1970.
