Komatsu agreed to acquire GHH Group GmbH, headquartered in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and maker of trucks and LHDs for underground mid-seam and narrow vein mining. Komatsu will acquire GHH’s products, staff, facilities and factories.

Komatsu Mining Corp. said the development represents an opportunity for Komatsu to expand its offerings for underground mining and will accelerate new product development through synergies. “By adding GHH’s factories and rebuild facilities in key markets in Europe, South Africa, India and Chile, we also aim to strengthen production and service capabilities for our customers,” said CEO Peter Salditt.

GHH and Komatsu will continue to conduct routine business after the acquisition closes in H1 2023. The combined team will expand Komatsu’s offerings for underground mining, GHH said. “This opens huge doors for our people and our products to develop further and grow beyond what we could have hoped for,” said CEO Dr. Jan Petzold. “This is the next logical step in becoming a true global player and we look forward to becoming part of the Komatsu family.”
