IAMGOLD contracted Weir Minerals for Enduron high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) for the Côté Gold Project. The 2.4-m-long, 2.4-m-diameter rolls will be the largest in Canada, and the largest in the world in a gold hard rock application.
The HPGRs will create an energy savings of up to 40% compared to an equivalent SABC comminution circuit while reducing the need for downstream grinding media, Weir said. “This power and grinding media savings will optimize total ownership cost and also account for a significant reduction in carbon emissions,” said Tim Lundquist, regional sales manager, North America, Weir.
