Hubei Sanning Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. will use Honeywell UOP’s Polybed Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology to supply hydrogen at a chemical plant in Zhijiang, in China’s Hubei Province, Honeywell reported. The PSA unit is designed to generate 165,000 m3 of hydrogen per hour. At the plant, scheduled to begin operations next year, coal will be gasified with water to produce synthesis gas, which is a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Each are purified and used to produce 600,000 mt/y of monoethylene glycol, which is commonly used to make polyester resins, films and fibers.
